Hardware Design and Building of Industrial Environment Monitoring System

Hamed M. Almalki,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.B.9.4. 30120.]

In the present work, an industrial environment monitoring system hardware design is presented and successfully physically prototyped and tested. The system is designed to monitor, track, assess and register pollution sources levels, environment state and conditions in an industrial manufacturing factory. The suggested design is intended to ensure acceptable quality of industrial manufacturing factory's environment, to maintain safety of personnel, material and machinery, as well as, to result in more optimized factory operation, hardware designs were accomplished utilizing the modern advances in different engineering fields including sensing, data processing and transmission. The suggested design consists of three main parts; the wireless sensor module for reading the state and condition of environmental parameters including pollution levels, the main control unit for data processing and decision making, and the wireless final control circuit for activating and deactivating the actuators.  Each of these systems and subsystems was physically built and successfully tested. The optimal, acceptable and dangerous levels and limits of most of the parameters were identified and experimentally tested.

Machine Learning Approach to Steganalysis

Okpor Margaret Dumebi and Onuodu Friday Eleonu,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.B.9.4. 32130.]

Data security is very important when sensitive data are transmitted over the Internet. The sharing of digital media over the Internet has given rise to many issues concerning security and privacy of data. Steganography is the process of hiding secret information within an ordinary message, pictures, audio or videos so that the hidden information cannot be discovered. To reveal such content is very important to avoid usage by criminals. Steganalysis is utilized to recognize or gauge the concealed data from watched information with almost no information about the steganography algorithm. Steganalysis discovers its utilization in computer criminology, digital fighting, following the crimes over the internet. The aim of this work is to apply an approach of machine learning to detect the presence of steganography content in digital media.

Pervasive Computing and Communication for Efficient Database Management in Airline Reservation

Okpor Margaret Dumebi and Ojekudo Nathaniel,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.B.9.4.33142]

Information recovery failures in file processing systems have frustrated a lot of computer users. For instance, an individual who booked a flight a week earlier will become frustrated when the airline company encounters difficulty in verifying and confirming the booking due to technical hitches. Such frustrating act can trigger flight delay/cancellation and further embarrassment. Hence, there is need for the airline company to employ the services of an improved pervasive computing system that utilizes Global Distribution System. In this study, we improved and actualized a pervasive computing approach to deal with flight booking and reservations. We used Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) in this approach. The parameters for our outcome execution accomplished a general exhibition pace of 95% when contrasted and the latest Pervasive Computing System for Flight Reservation Booking. The parameters for the comparison included Time Complexity (TC), Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA), Benchmarking (B), Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), Risk Assessment (RA), Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) and Speed (S) presented as TC, LCA, B, MCDM, RA, CBA, S = 21, 15, 7, 22, 8, 10, 12 respectively. Furthermore, our result contributed the improvement of a pervasive computing system through a Global Distribution System that consist of a central booking reservation backup that implements the Internet of Things (IOT) in order to make the internet accessible via any object. The contributed knowledge will be very useful to the aviation sector of Nigeria.

Trajectory Sensor with Image Processing for Energy Efficiency in Automatic Door Systems

Özkan Ak?n, Ferhat ?nalkaç, Umut ?ncesu,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.B.9.4. 34347.]

As in every area of life, automatic doors which make people’s daily life are also often used in industrial area. These doors are widely used in shopping malls, factories, business centers and many more places. Using image processing by analyzing the movements of people and vehicles, the unnecessary opening of these doors can be prevented. In this study, with the help of image processing, the movements of people are analyzed and the doors are opened only when people are directed towards the door, thus providing a significant energy saving.

Real-Time Image Processing Based Driver Scoring System in Commercial Vehicles

Özkan Ak?n and Ça?r? Köksal,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.B.9.4. 34853.]

Image processing technology has become a technology that is used in many areas such as health, defense and security. The aim of this study is to create a system to audit commercial vehicle drivers with the help of a camera and image processing techniques to enable safer traffic. The system that measures the driving habits of commercial vehicle drivers, evaluates and scores them according to their right and wrong movements is realized. In the evaluation of driving habits “Vehicle tracking distance control”, “Signal usage control” and “Hard brake control” criteria are used. Raspberry Pi 2 is used in the system for portability and being a low-cost single-board computer. Testing the system with recorded videos shows that the algorithm performs successfully detects lanes, cars and hard brakes. It gives score to the driver according to driving habits.

Success Integration between Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Health Information Systems (HIS)

Nawaf R. Alharbi and Prof. Majed Alsaud,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.B.9.4. 35458]

Attempts to improve health care services have increased across the globe in recent times, and the new technology has catalyzed this process by offering numerous solutions for the health information system. The integration of ERPs in healthcare is essential to replace duplication and manual processes by automating the processes and integrating them to ensure the hospital operations are effectively and efficiently running. The purpose of this report is to explore how successful integration of HIS and ERP brings about significant improvements in quality health care delivery. Today, every business face risks of stark reality; hence, they should anticipate, respond, and react to the continually changing marketplace and growing demands.
